Back in October I set the goal of losing 50 pounds by my 50th birthday. After coming back from New York I tipped the scales at just over 200 pounds. The weight was causing the bone structure of my feet and ankles to collapse, it had to go. Two rounds of the HCG diet and I have reached my goal. I even managed to lose almost 10 pounds during my 6 week maintenance phase. My total so far is 51 pounds.

One site that both Andrew and I have found very useful is My Fitness Pal. It is a free website that allows you to track yor calories, weight and activities. If you have a smart phone there is even apps to help you stay on track.

The celebration of my birthday was spread over a week. The actual day of my birthday was quiet, although I had tons of birthday greetings on Facebook. Andrew and I had gone out for a steak dinner on the weekend, so I opted to cook dinner. He gave me a beautiful silver and amber necklace from Topaz Beads. A few days later he surprised me with a vintage orange glass bead necklace from there as well.

Thursday night at Street Spirits the kids threw me a surprise party. Orange decorations, and ice cream cake with orange butterflies, and a card they all signed. The kids told some of their favourite Teresa stories. It was perfect.

Friday I got my brand new BlackBerry Z10. Damn I love this phone. It is fast, easy to use, and takes phenomenal pictures. The feature picture for this post was taken with it. I also love the wait it works with my BlackBerry PlayBook. I can view the pictures I take with the phone on the playbook. BlackBerry Bridge is easy to set up and use. I love the new scan technology.

Saturday was my 50th birthday party at my Mom and Dad’s. My Mom and daughter Elizabeth made my fabulous Ferret cake. Mom made the cake and Elizabeth hand sculpted the ferret out of fondant and gum paste. Unfortunately my son was out of town at a Marilyn Manson concert, he missed a good party. I received some wonderful presents, but the best part was being surrounded by friends and family.

Not the woman I used to be.

The picture on the left was taken October 6th in New York. The one on the right was taken this morning, November 11, in our hallway. One of my pet peeves of diet “before and after” pics, is the tendency for the after picture to be in more flattering posture and clothing. Instead, Andrew helped me to repiicate the orignal pose as close as possible, and the same clothing. I have to say, the difference brought tears to my eyes. Missing chins and a much small belly!!

I am now on the 1500 calorie portion of the diet. I will be posting updates here for anyone that would like to follow my progress. I have also been adding some tasty, healthy recipes. I have 25 pounds to go to reach my goal of 150 pounds. Wish me luck!
